BASED THERAPY GROUP
WHAT IS LEGO® BASED PLAY THERAPY?
Our LEGO® Based Play Therapy program supports children to build communication, social confidence, and teamwork skills through structured, play-based group sessions.
Originally developed in the mid-1990s by paediatric neuropsychologist Daniel LeGoff, the model has since been refined through clinical research and widespread use across paediatric therapy, education, and social skills programs.
LEGO®-based therapy leverages a child’s intrinsic motivation and structured play roles to support measurable growth in communication, cooperation, and flexible thinking.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Our LEGO® Based Play Therapy program helps children build social confidence, communication, and teamwork skills through structured, play-based learning.
Each session follows a fun and engaging format where children rotate through three roles:
- Engineer – Gives instructions using the manual
- Supplier – Finds and passes the right pieces
- Builder – Puts the model together
This framework encourages listening, cooperation, turn-taking, sharing, and problem-solving — all while having fun and forming meaningful friendships.
- Program Options:
🗓️ Term-time groups: 10-week programs, 1 session per week
☀️ Holiday intensives: Up to 3 sessions per week over 4 weeks
Run from our Kiama Downs clinic, children are grouped by age, interests, and shared therapeutic goals, creating a supportive environment where everyone can connect, create, and grow — one brick at a time.
Delivered by our Occupational Therapist, Ebony Poort, an accredited LEGO® Based Therapy Facilitator, who brings both clinical expertise and a sense of play to every session.
PROGRAM FEES & NEXT STEPS
To ensure our groups are the right fit — and that each child is placed in a supportive group matched to their age, interests, and therapeutic goals — we provide program fee information after we receive your Expression of Interest.
Following EOI, our admin team will contact you to:
- Confirm your child’s suitability and preferred group
- Discuss available days/times
- Outline the program structure for Term 1 and/or the Holiday Intensive
- Provide the full program fee, attendance expectations, and Service Agreement details
This ensures all families receive clear, personalised information before committing to a group.
